Researchers hosted by the Centre up to 2025

Over the years, the Centre de recherche du château de Versailles has welcomed researchers from a wide range of disciplines into its scientific community, all leading original projects. These collaborations, of varying duration, have greatly contributed to fostering and enriching scientific reflection and exchange.

Below is a list of the researchers hosted by the Centre up to 2025, along with the themes and periods of their stay.

  • Anna Sconza, Senior Lecturer in Italian Studies at the université Sorbonne Nouvelle. Specialising in Renaissance art history, particularly artistic literature and art theory in France and Italy during the early modern period (2025).
  • Dries Raeymackers, as part of the Erasmus+ “Staff Mobility Agreement for Training” programme (April 15-June 30, 2022).
  • Anabelle Machou, as part of her thesis “Le château de Versailles dans la littérature et le cinéma de 1980 à nos jours, une perspective géocritique” under the direction of Claude Coste (CYU) and co-supervised by Mathieu da Vinha (2021-December 2024).
  • Felipe da Silva Corrêa, as part of her thesis “Os Quatro Elementos: retratos das filhas de Luís XV por Jean-Marc Nattier” at the université Campinas (Brazil), funded by the Fundação de Amparo à Pesquisa do Estado de São Paulo (FAPESP) (June 1, 2019-December 1, 2020).
  • Lars Cyril Nørgaard, Senior Lecturer at the université de Copenhague and researcher at the Centre for Privacy Studies, as part of a research project on Paul Godet des Marais, Mme de Maintenon’s spiritual director (January 14-June 28, 2019).
  • Christine Jeanneret, as part of funding provided by the fondation Carlsberg to Frederiksborg Castle for a project on performative artistic relations between the Danish and French courts, within the framework of the programme “Court identities and the myth of Versailles in Europe: perception, adherence and rejection (18th-19th century)” (2018-2019).
  • Maxim Shikulo, postdoctoral researcher from the université Lomonossov (Moscou), as part of a research project on French ceremonial diplomacy during the reign of Louis XIV (April 1-June 30, 2018).
  • Alice Camus, PhD student from Sorbonne Université, as part of her thesis Les parfumeurs privilégiés, fournisseurs de la cour de Versailles (XVIIe-XVIIIe siècle)” funded by Guerlain (2017-juin 2021).
  • Kevin Justus, as part of a research project on the Opéra and the Petit Trianon in the age of Louis XV (2015-2019).
  • Elza Dejean, PhD student from the université François Rabelais de Tours, for a research project on the perfumes and cosmetics of the seventeenth century and the challenges faced by the court (June 1-December 31, 2010).
  • Marie-France Noël-Waldteufel, ethnologist, archaeologist and senior research engineer at the Musée national des arts et traditions populaires - Musée des civilisations de l’Europe et de la Méditerranée, as part of a research project on the court of Versailles in southern France, on “Court Cultures, Body Cultures”, on the menus of Choisy and on an ethnological investigation of marble (2005-2018).
