Publishing support

The Centre de recherche du château de Versailles (CRCV) is tasked with providing researchers with financial, scientific, and technical solutions to support and publish their work, with the aim of encouraging and facilitating the publication of research findings.

Types of Support

The research center offers several options:

  • Financial support may be granted to individual or collaborative publishing projects published by public or private publishers, whether French or foreign;
  • Scientific support may be provided (creation of indexes, documentary and iconographic research, etc.) to assist with a publication;
  • editorial and/or financial support may be granted to editors of collective works to publish a thematic issue in the Bulletin du Centre de recherche du château de Versailles;
  • Technical support may be offered to projects that cannot be published in print (data analysis, thesis appendices, etc.) through data hosting on the CRCV’s “Corpus” website.

Eligible Projects

Projects must fall within the scope of the research center’s missions and fields of study, that is, they must focus on the sites and expressions of power as represented in Versailles and throughout Europe, primarily during the 17th and 18th centuries.

Courtly civilization can be examined in all its aspects, from the ways in which power was exercised to the structure and functioning of court institutions, including customs and mentalities, the movement of people and ideas, the development of the arts and sciences, the design of palaces and gardens, and the significance of ceremonies, festivals, and performances.

Award Criteria

All applications must be submitted by email to the director of the Center—Mathieu da Vinha—and must include the following:

  • the author’s complete CV, including a biography and a list of publications; the same applies, if applicable, to co-authors;
  • a presentation of the publishing project and a 10-line summary;
  • the table of contents;
  • the typescript.
