This page gives a summary of the policy on cookies and other trackers used by the Centre de recherche du château de Versailles as part of its various online tools.

>  to collect anonymous statistics concerning visits and use of the various website components to allow its publisher to administer and improve the website.

Optional cookies

Optional cookies concern personalised advertising operations.
These include all cookies that produce accurate, non-anonymous statistics and which study your browsing behaviour.
They also include all social media cookies, notably managed by their share buttons.
In accordance with the GDPR, these cookies require users’ prior consent.

CRCV websites and databases

For its websites and online databases, the Centre de recherche du château de Versailles uses necessary and functionality cookies known as session cookies. They are used to store information on the current session. If you end your browsing session, the session ID and all other data stored will be deleted.

Regarding other functionality cookies, the Centre de recherche du château de Versailles has chosen to install the web analytics tool Matomo to generate statistics on its websites institutional website, banque d’images, project website Immersailles).

Matomo guarantees compliance with the GDPR and has been approved by the Commission Nationale de l’Informatique et des Libertés (CNIL) as one of the few web analytics tools that can collect data without visitor consent.

To do this, we have configured Matomo according to requirements to ensure the following:

  • the tool is hosted as a self-hosted version
  • no personal data is collected
  • we have disabled data exports
  • IP addresses are anonymous
  • only “First party” cookies are used by Matomo (third-party cookies and cross-domain cookies not used)
  • the “User ID” and E-Commerce features are not used
  • Heatmaps and Session Recordings are extensions not installed on our server
