Access directly to the Image Database.
The Image Database produced by the Research Centre achieves two fundamental objectives: on the one hand, it conserves and promotes iconographic collections, and on the other, it forms an indispensable documentary resource for the Palace of Versailles, the Centre and the wider research community.
To date, it contains photographs of the current and former conditions, of paintings, sculptures, prints, drawings, plans and manuscripts relating to the Palace of Versailles and its courtly life.
These zoomable images are accompanied by explanatory texts, and represent not only the collections of the Palace of Versailles, but also external institutions, such as the Bibliothèque municipale de Versailles (BMV), the Archives nationales and the Bibliothèque nationale de France.
In order to launch this project, a major indexing project and a digitisation campaign are currently underway. The database is growing every day.
